I am married to Kathryn Mary Love.  Between us, we have 5 children;  Jeff, Angela, John R., April and Linda.  Supporting cast includes 17 grandchildren.

I studied two years at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.  I also studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois.  I am licensed and ordained by the Christian Ministerial School, Cleveland, Tennessee.

I have a great desire to help the suffering and the sick.  I would like them to know that God loves them an everlasting love and he will lock them in his arms and carry them home.

Shirley Moore

I became a nurse because my son was born with asthma and my grandparents were becoming ill.  I wanted more information about how to cure them.  I decided to go to nursing school to become a nurse.  I obtained my degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse in May of 2001.  I started my career at Sheridan Health and Rehab Center on December 26, 2001 as the treatment nurse on the PM shift.  While working at Sheridan, I continued with my nursing courses and received my degree as a Professional Registered Nurse in May 2005.  While attending classes, I held the office of Vice President while a member of HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) and was an active member in SNA (Student Nurses Association) while in school.  I continued to excel at Sheridan by receiving promotions to weekend supervisor in Spring 2003, Charge Nurse in spring of 2004 and then finally Director of Nursing Services in the summer of 2005.  I held this position until summer of 2006 when I left this position for other endeavors.  Just recently I returned in January of 2008 and again accepted the position of Interim Director of Nursing Services.

Brenda Grant

I have worked at Sheridan for 14 years.  I began as an activity assistant and am now the Special Care Unit Coordinator.  I helped create the Special Care Unit in 1999 and have been passionate about Alzheimer/Dementia care ever since.  She has attended many professional workshops  related to Alzheimer/Dementia care.  I am an active member of the Activity Therapists Association (ATA) and the Illinois Activity Professional Association (IAPA).  I am also involved in changing the culture of long-term care by being an active member of the Lake County Regional Pioneer Coalition.

Brittani McCafferty

My name is Brittani McCafferty and I am 33 years old. I have been married to my husband Sean for 12 years. I have a beautiful daughter Brooklyn who is 18 months old. I live in Pleasant Prairie, WI. I grew up in Winthrop Harbor, attended Zion Benton High School, and graduated in 1992. While in high school I attended night school for Cosmetology. By the time I graduated I had received my Instructor’s license in Cosmetology.

I taught Beauty School at Nu-Wave School of Hair Design for several years. I loved doing hair and still do it part time, but my heart was set on going to nursing school.
I attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, where I received an Associate’s degree in Nursing. During my time as a student at Gateway I was very active in student government organizations.  I started as treasurer of the student nurse association (S.N.A.) then later became president of the S.N.A. I also was treasurer for the Wisconsin State Nursing Association.

While in nursing school I went through some very trying times. On August 11th, 2005 I was in a bad car accident which resulted in substantial injuries.  During the healing process I was able to experience the difficulties that go along with physical rehabilitation. Going through this gave me first hand experience on what it is like to be on the receiving end. I now have a greater appreciation for the health care industry.

In my last semester of nursing school I was nine months pregnant and in clinical at Kenosha Hospital. I was bound and determined to finish school. I had my daughter on Sunday morning at 12:24 am via cesarean section and was back in clinical one week later. My clinical rotation that week was on the labor and delivery unit. How Ironic is that.

Becoming a nurse and being able to help others is a very rewarding position for me.  I love the feeling I get at the end of the day knowing that I have made a difference in someone’s life.

Sandra Bellman

I have been at Sheridan since I was 22. I started as a dietary aide and was promoted to cook. When the registered dietician resigned, I became the Dietary Manager. I had to take a 90 hour course to remain a dietary manager. I then took the Certified Food Protection Professional test and passed. I belonged to the Dietary Managers Association and have been Secretary, President Elect and President for my district.

I like traveling, reading, embroidery, and knitting. At times, I try to write poetry. My mother and I do many things together including living together.

I have only 1 sister but have many cousins and other relatives that I am close to. I also have 2 nephews and 1 step nephew - so I have 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew.

Lisa Scher

I grew up in Farmington Hills, MI with my parents, younger sister, and younger brother. After high school I went to Michigan State University. It took me two years to pick a major. All I knew was that I wanted to help people. After much thought and research I decided to go with social work. I received my bachelors and masters in social work with a specialization in medical gerontology. Working with older adults is something I have always wanted to do. When I was ten years old I would take my little family dog to a local nursing home in Michigan to visit. It was so rewarding, even as a ten year old to realize the difference I could make in the lives of older adults in my community.

I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to go to places like Greece and Australia. My favorite place I have been to so far is Barcelona, Spain. I also enjoy reading and watching movies. I spend a lot of time with my dog Boomer who comes to Sheridan every day with me as a therapy dog. I also love to spend time with my wonderful family.

Laura Holmstrom

My name is Laura Holmstrom. I am the Assistant Administrator at Sheridan Health Care Center. I started working at Sheridan in 1995, I held multiple positions there such as Administrative Assistant and Medicare Coordinator before being promoted to my current position. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater from Arizona State University. What lead me to health care? Both of my parents were Administrators and I saw the pride they had in their career choices so here I am.

I am married to Tim and have two girls, Heidi and Katie. Both of my children are very active in sports such as gymnastics, softball, basketball, and cheerleading. I am also a Green Bay Packers fan, which can be a challenge in Illinois.

I enjoy working with all the staff and residents at Sheridan. The friendships I have made will be life long. My door is always open.
