Sheridan Health & Rehab Center was formally known as Northeast Health Care. In October of 1982, it was purchased and the name was then changed to Sheridan. The new owner faced many obstacles with Resident’s care and staffing. What was done after the purchase? It started with new staff that was added during the first couple of years under the new ownership. Some of the Residents were transferred to settings that were more appropriate for them. Deficiencies from previous state surveys were corrected and soon remodeling began.
The physical transformation took place both inside and outside. Landscaping all around the building that was completed last year, has added curb appeal. New nurse’s stations and med rooms were installed, new wall treatments put up, new furniture in Resident’s rooms and common areas have made Sheridan pleasant and appealing. Recently the lobby area was remodeled for a more up-to-date look and added security. Remodeling of the lower level and the third floor is now underway.
While pleasant aesthetics provide a positive environment for Resident, the Administration agrees that the most important changes come in the form of direct client care. Continuation of care at the facility, which didn’t exist before, has been implemented. Skilled nursing care; Harmony Bay special care unit for Alzheimer and dementia Residents; and respite care for short term assistance have been added. We can care for those who need minimal assistance as well as those on life support.
Sheridan's Medical Director is Dr. James Monahan.
